In Fusion, deaths are just a special kind of out cohort. It's important to record this information on the same day the animal dies. To record a death, simply tap the "Create Out Cohort" button and select the "Death Out Cohort" option . From there, you can enter the basic details, and the office staff will later add any additional information.

To begin, use the Quick Link screen if you know the dead animal's ID. First, make sure the Location field is correct. Then enter one of the animal's IDs. You must enter the exact ID for most of the fields, but you can enter just a few digits in the RFID field if you want. In this example we'll enter part of an RFID tag. Once that is done, Fusion populates the list on the right with live animals that match the criteria. If there were too many listed, we could enter another of the animal's IDs to further restrict the results.

Here we don't need to do that so we'll just select the animal we're after and then tap the Next button. Fusion automatically fills in the Entity field and links the animal we selected. All we have to do is fill in any other fields we want and then save.

If you don't know the ID of the dead animal or want to link it manually, tap the Skip Quick Link button instead. In this case you'll then need to fill in the Entity field and do any animal linking you want manually as explained next.

Tap on the "Entity" field and choose the group to which the dead animal belonged. You'll need to specify the pen and, if applicable, the specific lot within that pen.

Technically, Fusion allows you to record multiple deaths from the same pen and lot simultaneously, but we recommend recording each one separately. So, when entering the information, indicate a count of "1" for the individual animal.

It's a good idea to establish a link between the dead animal and its death record. To do this, tap the "Linked Animals" button and select the "Try Auto Linking" option . Fusion successfully identifies the animal and automatically establishes the connection. Linking with other options is explained in a separate video.

Once again, all this will have been taken care of for you already if selected an animal in the Quick Link screen. Now let's move on to the other fields.

Fusion provides an estimate for the weight of the animal, but you have the option to modify this value if needed. Next, choose the cause of death from the available options. If a post-mortem examination was performed, check the corresponding field. The office staff will be able to enter the veterinarian who conducted the post-mortem examination.

In most cases, you can leave the "Identifier" field as is, unless your yard follows a different system for identifying cohorts. Additionally, you can enter a manifest number or include any relevant notes, if applicable.

If you want to associate any inputs with this event, such as a rendering fee, click the plus button and choose the desired input . If you need to adjust the quantity, make sure the row you want to change is selected and then tap the Amount field.

Before finalizing the record, it's highly recommended to take a moment and ensure that all the information provided is accurate. Although it is possible to edit certain details later on, it's best to get it right the first time. Once you've reviewed and confirmed the information, tap the "Save" button .

Congratulations! The death has now been recorded in Fusion. If this was the last animal in a lot, the system will automatically close the lot and mark all individual animals connected to it as non-current. These changes will be synced with the feed trucks during their next full sync. If you need to record additional deaths, simply repeat the process outlined above.
