Simple Death Out Cohort Window

This window is a simplified version of the Out Cohort Edit that should be used at chuteside for quick entry for death type out cohorts. The Out Cohort Edit window can then be used by office staff to supply other values. This window is also optimized for entry on a touch screen and is designed for recording a single death.

Quick Linking

Ideally when you use this window it is to record the death of a single animal by linking it. When the window first opens, use the fields on the left to enter one or more of the animal's IDs. As you do so, a list of matching (and current) animals are shown in the list. When you see the dead animal, either double-click it or select it and tap the Next button.

This animal will automatically be linked. Fusion will also attempt to automatically set up the out cohort's entity, based on the animal's current lot and current pen. If the inventory system doesn't have any animal's from that lot in the current pen, you'll receive a message and will then need to set up the entity manually. Fusion will also automatically set the out weight based on the animal's estimated weight.

If you prefer to set everything up manually, including animal linking, use the Skip Quick Link button to move immediately to the main screen.

If you finding an animal with the RFID field, you only need to type in a few of the tag digits. Fusion will search for RFIDs that contain those digits. (The other ID fields must be an exact match.)

Main Fields

The main fields in this window are briefly described below, but we encourage you to be familiar with Out Cohort Edit Window which describes them in more detail.

The entity and count fields specify exactly which animals will be part of this out cohort. Hopefully use of the Quick Link screen automatically filled these in, but if they need to be manually filled in then see Entity Chooser for details on how they work. Fusion makes sure that this out cohort is only dealing with one animal and, depending on your preference settings, Fusion may force the person working with this window to link an animal.

  • Total Weight. Enter the total weight of the animal. Fusion will give you a default weight based on what it knows about the animal once you have chosen an entity, but you can change this.
  • Death Cause. Choose a reason for the death.
  • Post Mortem. If the animal received a post mortem, check this field on.
  • Identifier. Leave this identifier as is or enter your own if you like.
  • Manifest. You can enter a manifest number here.
  • Note. You can enter a note about this out cohort here.

If an entity has been selected, and weights have been entered, Fusion will show you the pen's current weight and what it will change the pen weight to after the out cohort is saved. See the Out Cohorts section of Preferences Window for more information on what is going on here.

If inputs are to be associated with this death, they can be entered later in the office or right now. To enter them now, click the + button and choose an input. The default amount is 1, but you can change it by selecting the input in the list and then tapping on the Amount field to enter a new value.

Add as many inputs as you want by repeating the process. If you make a mistake, select the input in the list and tap the - button to remove it.

Click the Save to save the out cohort. Or, click the Cancel button to cancel your changes.
