Ingredient Attribute Edit Window

This window is used to create or edit an attribute for an ingredient. For information on attributes, see Core Concepts. If you are changing an attribute for many items at the same time, consider using the Bulk Attribute Change instead.

  • Ingredient. Choose the ingredient you are changing an attribute for.
  • Location. Choose the location this attribute change is for. Attributes are specific to a location so you can have different pricing, for example, at each location.
  • Attribute. Choose the attribute you want to change the value for.

    • DM. Use this attribute when the dry matter of an ingredient changes. It is especially important to keep up with dry matter changes for an ingredient if you are using dry matter based ration formulations. When recording the dry matter percentage attribute for an ingredient that is being tempered with a water meter, the percentage should include the water added through tempering.
    • NEM. Use this attribute if the net energy maintenance value of an ingredient changes. This can affect the weight calculations Fusion uses each night to increase the weight of animals.
    • NEG. Use this attribute if the net energy gain value of an ingredient changes. This can affect the weight calculations Fusion uses each night to increase the weight of animals.
    • Protein. Use this attribute to track protein level changes in ingredients. Fusion does not currently use this information anywhere internally, but you can use it for your own historical information if you want.
    • Cost. Use this attribute to set your cost for this ingredient.
    • Market Value. Use this attribute to set the current market value for this ingredient. This can be useful in inventory reports.
    • Bill At. Use this attribute to set the current billing price for this ingredient. This will be the price Fusion uses when calculating values in a customer invoice, for example.
    • Projection Price. Use this attribute to set the price used in the Projections Calculator window for this ingredient. See Projections Calculator for more information.
    • Temper With. If you are starting to temper an ingredient, use this attribute to associate a specific water meter with the ingredient. You can choose the Don't Temper option to break the association between an ingredient and water meter. This attribute cannot be set using the Bulk Attribute Change window.
    • Tax Rate. Use this attribute to set the current tax rate for this ingredient. This will be applied to any ingredient on or after the switch date as defined in the Billing section of the Preferences Window.
  • Change Date. Enter the date you want the change to start on. You cannot change the same attribute at the same location for the same ingredient more than once on a date.
  • New Value. Enter the new value of this attribute.
  • Change Note. If you want to enter a note about this change, you can do so here.

If you click the Get Last Value button, Fusion will figure out the most recent value for the selected ingredient and attribute and place it in the New Value field. You can change the value from there as you desire.

Editing Attributes

This window can be used to edit existing attributes, but take care to understand this warning:

If you have printed any reports based on this information, changing any of the values may result in the same report printing differently in the future. If you are trying to change an attribute for a new date, you must create a new attribute instead of changing this one.

Saving Changes

After you have made the changes, click the Save button. If you have changed your mind, click the Cancel button.

If you are entering a dry matter percentage, Fusion will not allow you to save the information if the amount is outside the threshold defined by the ingredient.

Connection With Bulk Attribute Change Window

When you use the Bulk Attribute Change window to make ingredient based changes, internally Fusion is just creating attributes just as if you had made the changes one at a time using this window. In fact, if you made a mistake you can fix it with either the Bulk Attribute Change window or with this window.

Getting Here

You can open this window by going to Fusion Core → Attributes → New Ingredient Attribute or by creating or editing an ingredient attribute in the Ingredient Attribute List window.
