This video shows how record shipped cattle in Fusion in the office. It also explains how to complete yard-entered out cohorts.

When cattle leave the yard, we need to record them as an "out cohort." An out cohort refers to a group of animals from the same lot and pen. So, if you're shipping a pen with multiple lots, you'll have to create separate out cohorts for each group. The yard crew usually creates a basic out cohort on the same day the animals leave. Later, you can edit the out cohort and add the remaining information. Alternatively, you can also create a completely new out cohort in the office if you prefer.
Let's walk through the process of editing an out cohort created by the yard crew. To see the list of out cohorts, make sure you have the Fusion Core menu active and then select "List Out Cohorts" from the Cohorts menu. From there, you can find the out cohort you want to edit and simply double-click on it.
You'll notice that some fields have already been filled in by the yard crew. You can change the information they entered for all fields except the one marked in red. Feel free to add any additional information as well.
The yard crew may have entered an estimated weight, but you can enter the accurate values. Once you've done that, you can check the "Weights are accurate" checkbox. By the way, ensure that the Pay Weight is set to either the Gross or Net weight, depending on what you use in your yard. If you know the dressing weight, you can enter it too, which allows Fusion to calculate carcass adjusted values in lot closeouts.
On the right side of the window, you can add any additional information you have. After that, let's move on to the second tab.
To enter a buyer or other contacts, simply start typing their name until it shows up. You can also click the purple contact card on the right of the field to search for a contact. Alternatively, you can right-click the contact card to create a contact on the spot, making it available for entry.
If desired, you can associate input fees with the out cohort. Let's use a scale fee as an example. Double-click on the Amount cell to change it. The specific quantity will depend on how you've set up your inputs.
The Pricing and Invoice Info section can be used once the cattle have been paid for, along with a couple of extra fields for tracking information.
Note that changing the out count or out date is possible but requires additional information and is discussed in another video. It's best to ensure this information is entered correctly from the beginning.
Once you've finished entering your information, click on Save.
Now let's briefly go over how to create an out cohort from scratch in the office. With the Out Cohorts list window open, you can click on the New button. Alternatively, you can choose "New Out Cohort" from the Cohorts menu.
The same window will open. The Entity field popover will appear, allowing you to choose the group of cattle that are leaving. If it doesn't appear, simply click in the Entity field. You'll need to enter a pen, and if the pen contains multiple lots, select the specific lot as well. For example, if you enter "Chronic 1" as the pen, you'll see that you also need to choose one of the lots. On the other hand, if you choose pen "4," there's no need to select a lot. Make sure you tab out of each field so they register in Fusion, and then click on the OK button.
Next, we need to inform Fusion about the number of animals being shipped. Click on the All Animals button if the entire group is being shipped, or you can directly enter a count.
Using the Linked Animals button, you can link individual animals to the out cohort, but this is optional and discussed in another video that covers the implications of linking animals.
You'll notice that the Total Weight field is already filled in. Fusion takes the estimated average weight for the selected group and multiplies it by the count. Let's say we change the count to 24. Fusion isn't sure whether you want it to recalculate the total weight, so it asks for confirmation. Unless you know the exact weight and will enter it directly, select Yes so Fusion can recalculate it.
Enter as much data as possible in the remaining fields. If you're missing any information, you can always come back later to fill it in, as explained earlier.
Take a moment to verify that the information is correct, and then click on the Save button. These animals are now considered out of the system. If they were the last animals in a lot, the lot will automatically be closed, and all individual animals associated with the lot will be marked as non-current. Feed trucks will receive these updates during their next full sync.
