Fusion Installer 3.5
Build Date: 2015-04-22
New Features
- A new source, called Fusion Server, has been added. If an install file isn't available locally, this will usually be the next best option because it is faster to move an install file across your network from Fusion Server than from the internet. This option only works with Fusion 3.0 and higher.
- Fusion Installer now upgrades itself on launch if a new install file is detected locally.
- Fusion Installer used to figure out what versions where currently installed based on simply remembering what it has previously installed. This was not always accurate, especially if applications where manually moved around. Fusion Installer can now dynamically figure out what applications and versions are installed.
- We have added two network related test utilities to Fusion Installer, both available from the Advanced Menu. The Ping Test utility is a simple test that can show if your network is dropping packets which is a condition that will make Fusion Client unstable. The Throughput Test utility shows the bandwidth or throughput of your network from a particular computer to Fusion Server in a standardized way so you can measure whether your network meets our minimum requirements. Networks that don't will cause Fusion Client to seem slow and even unstable.
Changes
- There is no longer an option to get install files using the FTP protocol.
- We have moved to a new install file format which is smaller.
Bug Fixes
- It used to be possible for Fusion Installer to connect Fusion Server to the wrong data file during an upgrade in some rare circumstances. This is fixed.
- Fusion Installer used to re-download install files when you were preparing a USB drive, even if the install file already existed on the host computer. This is fixed.
