Drug Edit Window

This window is used to enter information about drugs. See Core Concepts for more information about drugs.

General Information

Family. It isn't necessary to assign drugs to families, but if want to organize them into families to make them easier to find, you can assign a family here. If a family doesn't exist yet, just enter it in the field however you like. Once you've entered the family once, it will show up as a possible family for other drugs.
Name. Enter the name of the drug. It must be unique.
Default Billing Category. If this drug is used in a way where it isn't specifically assigned a billing category, the category you enter here will be used for that particular drug event. Fusion encourages specifying a billing category when a drug is used, but if you forget this is the catch all. See Core Concepts for more information about billing categories.
Units. Choose the type of units that most closely matches the drug you are entering. Make sure you choose implant for implants as this is how Fusion distinguishes implants from other drugs which is important for some of the functionality in Fusion.
Dosage. Fusion will calculate the amount of drug needed for an animal based on this dosage formula. Most dosages are defined as so many units per some amount of weight. If the dosage needs to be on a per head basis, leave the weight field at 0.
Withdrawal Time. If this drug has a withdrawal, enter the number of days for it here. Otherwise, leave it at zero. Fusion uses this to calculate animal withdrawals.
Administration Route. Choose the route that should be used when giving the drug to an animal.

Location Specific Information

The information in this section defines information about the drug on a per location basis. Select a location and then change the values for that location as desired.

Threshold. This the quantity of the drug at this location where, if the inventory level goes below it, you want to be warned. It is used by the Inventory Thresholds window.
Maximum Capacity. Fusion can let you know how close you are to the maximum capacity of a drug at a location in the Inventory Thresholds window. This doesn't matter for most drugs, so leave it set to 0 unless it matters to you.
Avg Usage Days. When the Inventory Thresholds window calculates how many days it will be until the inventory level will be below the threshold, it will do this based on previous activity for the number of days in this field. For example, if this field was 30 days for Borgal, Fusion would look at the Borgal used in the last 30 days to decide how much was being used per day. It would then apply that calculation to figure out how many days, assuming the same usage pattern, until you hit the threshold. It usually makes sense for this to be a fairly low number (like 30 days) for drugs that are used regularly and a higher number (like 180 or 365 days) for drugs that are seldom used. (Obviously Fusion can't predict when you will hit the threshold for drugs that are used erratically.)
Markup Type. Use this field to define the markup method that Fusion will use when calculating the Bill At price based on the Cost price. Fusion doesn't automatically do this on its own—pricing changes must always have human involvement. However, when using the Bulk Attribute Change window each month, you can ask Fusion to automatically apply a markup based on this setting. The possible values are None (no markup will automatically be applied), Percentage (the markup will be calculated as a percentage of the cost), or Dollar (the markup will be a certain amount of dollars).
Markup Amount. If you have defined a markup for this drug at this location, you can enter the percentage or dollar markup here.
Batch Number. Fusion can be used to track which batch number was in use whenever a drug is administered. This can be changed during a chuteside job, but is can also be entered manually here. Once this is changed, any new drug events will use this batch number.

Note

If you would like to enter a note about this drug, you can do so in this field. This note can be seen at chuteside if needed.

Saving Changes

Click the Save button when you are finished making changes to a drug. The new information will be available to other Fusion users within about ten seconds. Or you can click the Cancel button to have Fusion ignore any changes you just made.

You can open this window by creating or editing a drug from the Drugs List window.
