Data Privacy

Data Privacy & Ownership

At Fusion Feedlot Insights, data privacy isn’t a policy — it’s a philosophy that shaped Fusion from day one. We designed our software so that every customer owns and controls their data completely. It stays on-site, in your hands, and accessible only to the people you authorize. This approach sets Fusion apart in an industry where others rely on cloud storage or shared access models.

Where Your Data Lives

All Fusion applications—Fusion Server, Fusion Client, Fusion Truck, and Fusion Anywhere—store your business data on your own computers, right in your yard. None of your operational or business data resides in the cloud, and there is no back door for us or anyone else to access it. Because of this design, your data stays entirely within your private environment and under your control.

Who Can Access Your Data

Only people you authorize can access your data, using user accounts and permissions that you define. Fusion Feedlot Insights cannot access and does not own, use, or sell customer data. We do not aggregate or benchmark customer data, and we have no technical means to share or transmit it to any third party. If another company, such as a consultant or third party, requires data from you, they must contact you directly. You may choose to share data using Fusion’s built-in export features, but we cannot do this on your behalf.

Support Access (Only with Permission)

When you need help, you can grant us temporary access through TeamViewer. That connection is entirely under your control. You may keep TeamViewer disabled at all other times, and when it is off, we cannot access your system in any way.

If You Ever Leave Fusion

You retain full ownership and access to your data even if you discontinue use of Fusion. Should you decide to stop using the software, you can continue to view your information in read-only mode on your existing Fusion system. Your business records, history, and reports remain available for reference, audit, or transition purposes. We never disable, remove, or reclaim your data, and we do not require you to return, delete, or modify it after service ends.

Optional Data You Can Choose to Send

Fusion gives you the ability to transmit certain information directly to third parties if you choose to. Examples include:

These transfers occur directly from your on-site Fusion Server to the destination you select. They do not pass through or get stored by Fusion Feedlot Insights.

What Fusion Sends to Us Automatically

Fusion Server sends a small amount of technical, non-business information that helps us monitor system health and reliability. Examples include backup success or failure notifications, server start-up and shutdown events, disk space and memory usage, error codes from application crashes, and data integrity check results. These details allow us to identify and resolve technical issues before they affect you, but they never include business data such as lots, weights, prices, or animal records. The only information that could be considered business-related—limited head-count data used for billing—is described in the next section.

Licensing and Head-Count Information

Fusion Server reports one piece of information used for licensing and billing: an average head count calculated over the previous 90 days. This figure is used only to determine the appropriate billing tier for the customer’s subscription. Customers who prefer not to transmit this information can opt out entirely by choosing one of our alternative pricing options. This head-count metric is the only business-related data we receive, and we treat it with the same privacy standards as all other system information.

Fusion Anywhere and Remote Access

Fusion Anywhere allows you to access your on-site Fusion Server securely through a web browser, from anywhere in the world. Even then, your data stays on your server and is visible only to users you authorize. In very limited cases, our team can enable short-term diagnostic logging to assist with a specific support request. This is automatically turned off and erased within a few hours.

Our Guiding Principle

Our guiding principle has never changed: Putting You in Control of Your Data. Every aspect of Fusion’s architecture, policy, and culture is built to uphold that promise. We designed Fusion for feedlot operators who want the benefits of modern technology without sacrificing ownership, privacy, or independence.

Questions to Ask Any Feedlot Software Provider

Before you trust any software provider with your business data, ask these questions—and compare their answers to ours:

  1. Where is my data stored? Is it in the cloud, or on my own computer?
  2. Who in your company can access my data, and under what circumstances?
  3. If I stop using your system, can I still access my historical data?
  4. Do you ever use my data, even in anonymized or aggregate form, for benchmarking, analytics, or internal analysis?
  5. Do you or your shareholders profit from my data in any way?
  6. What safeguards prevent your staff from viewing my data?
  7. Can I fully disconnect your access once support is complete?
  8. Does your system require a cloud connection for day-to-day use?
  9. If your company experiences a cloud outage, will I lose access to my data?
  10. How can I verify that my data never leaves my site without my consent?

These are important questions that every feedlot should ask. At Fusion, the answers are straightforward: your data stays on your server, and you stay in control.
