This video explains how to define your cattle type list in Fusion.
Time: 1:31
Let's talk about cattle types in Fusion. You can assign cattle types to your lots, and if you want, even to individual animals. Now, why is this important? Well, Fusion uses cattle types to categorize cattle for various purposes. Among other things, treatment protocols can differ based on cattle type, and you can also break down your cattle inventory by cattle type.
It's really important to decide on your cattle type list right away. Changing it later can be a bit of a hassle, especially because any treatment protocols tied to cattle types will need to be updated too.
We strongly recommend you keep your list of cattle types relatively short and sweet. Three or four types are easy to manage, but if you have more than six or eight, things can get a tad overwhelming. Remember, Fusion has other fields to capture details like sex, breed, and color, so there's no need to try and squeeze all of that info into your cattle type list.
To create a new cattle type, click the "New" button, give it a name, and hit "Save." You can also double-click an existing cattle type in the list to edit its name or delete it if you haven't used it.
