Per animal bunk calls result in more accurate feeding levels for each pen while make work easier for employees.
Many feedlots think of their bunk calls in terms of total quantity of feed for each pen. The problem with this is that the bunk call value must then be adjusted every time cattle or added or removed from the pen. An employee who removes a dead, for example, must remember to let the person feeding know they must adjust the bunk call for the pen. The person feeding then needs to calculate a new bunk call value. Mistakes are easily made due to poor communication or math skills, possibly resulting in cattle that are over or under fed.
In Fusion, bunk calls are made on a per animal basis. This is much easier for an employee to think about. Because Fusion is always aware of the number of animals in every pen, even as changes happen throughout the day, it is able to automatically handle the math to ensure cattle are fed correctly every time.
Your cattle will more consistently be fed the optimum amount of feed because there are fewer areas where costly mistakes can be made. At the end of the day, that leads to greater profit. As a bonus, is it easier to compare bunk calls across pens because they all use the same denominator.
